The Power of Geopointe for Admins
In our March Release we introduced a new List Action called Change Owner. Guess what it does? It changes the owner on Salesforce records. Lots of them. Even different kinds at the same time. So, most Salesforce admins, who have been around for a while know that you can change the owner on a Salesforce record using tools like the Data Loader, or the standard Mass Transfer utility. But how do you identify which records need to be changed? Filters. Queries. Ok. What if you need to do something like distribute leads based on Zip code, or Accounts based on County? How abut the classic Sales Territory dilemma of dividing Southern, and Northern California? As a Salesforce admin, you are going to be doing a lot of filtering and fiddling with lists of zip codes, that are subject to change, and unless you have Geopointe, you probably don’t have county data just sitting around on all your records. Stop the insanity! With Geopointe, you don’t need to do it that way. You can use our Shape Search feature to draw shapes on the map that outline the regions that your company uses, and then use those shapes to filter your records, and change the owner right from the map. Lets take a look at how that would work.
Draw Some Shapes
In this example, I need to divide up the Los Angeles area and the Orange County / San Diego area between 2 Field Service reps. I’ll start by using the Demographic layers in Geopointe to add the outlines of Counties to my map.
